Simply put, GTS stands for Go-To-Support! Support can mean different things depending on how it’s discussed, so let’s run through what we mean at Brooks when we say support.

We’re pretty interested in the science behind how the body moves, and by "pretty interested," we mean we’re absolutely obsessed. That’s why we have a team of scientists and researchers dedicated to putting new theories and innovative ideas to the test in our Run Research Lab.

One result of our research was the introduction of our GuideRails® support technology in 2018. Our GuideRails are a holistic support system designed to help the knee and the foot work more effortlessly together. This system works a lot like bumpers in bowling – if your feet tend to move inward or shift outward while you go through your gait cycle, the GuideRails assist in stabilizing the foot to provide better alignment between your knee and ankle. This allows your body to embrace its natural path of motion while reducing the risk of injury, keeping you running happy. This support is different from arch support, or an active shaping in the arch area of the shoe, but it is just as important!

When it comes down to it, any model that includes GTS in its name features our GuideRails technology and is considered a support shoe. Folks who won’t benefit from the added support of the GuideRails will want to stick to our neutral models or any of the shoes that do not have GTS in their name. [There’s one exception to this rule – the Addiction Walker, which features an extended progressive diagonal rollbar (PDRB). We have a lot of technology!]
